Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford is a staged educational experience. Entering the village is like stepping back in time to a period of numerous innovations. Visitors learn through the experience of walking through a village that is of an era when the innovation of the car, steam engine train, printing press, and more were having a great impact on everyday life. Hidden within this staged experience are the more recent innovations that allow for the recreation of a past time. My intermodal station enhances the educational experience of Greenfield Village by revealing the hidden backstage area of the Henry Ford. Commuters, students, visitors, and local residents will be able to take part in this educational experience when they visit the station. The path to the Henry Ford can be seen as the prominent staircase and bridge that lead to the backstage area and a new access point to Greenfield Village by Model T rides from the backstage area to the main entrance. Platforms along the path provide views of the backstage and staged areas that emphasize the connection between them. From these views the observer will be able to see the innovations of the staged past they moving towards along with the innovations that have resulted in the time between the staged past and the near now, and be inspired to make future innovations. This timeline is reinforced on the North and East facades by digital media streaming the timeline of the modes transportation supported by the station.
