Space as a catalyst of ‘Movement, Connectivity and Exchange of senses”
Aim
This is a project of Urban Park which aims to link the waterfront to the city
core. The project also explores on the experiential quality of space.
Background
Most of the parks and public gathering spaces are concentrated along the riverfront
where the outdoor events takes place, while, the city projects constant movement
with the grid of road network in consonance with the building facades. Integrating
park reintroduces an alternative place of rest and contemplation within the
city-core.
Concept
• The Urban Park project
is designed as discovered paths encouraging exploration and gathering inside
the city.
• The
Urban Park is a space of form and materials that encourages phenomenon of experiences.
• Experiences depend on individual perception,
hence it is ever changing. It is experienced as a composition of remembrance
and imagination.
• The space is defined in terms
of movement, light, sound, smell, touch, shadow enclosure, openness, intimacy,
vastness, looking out, being looked at- i.e. sequence of atmospheres.
• The
sequences of rooms are defined by architecture of walls, spaces between the walls,
encouraging different uses.
Research
Can a space be less than a
function? A space that holds no meanings, just evoke feelings: something
that can’t be explained and
you resume to intuition.
Can a space be composed so as
to let the logics rest and senses awake where unexpected new relationships form
and experiences begin….
