Health Insurance Resource Center

A resource for families, individuals and the self-employed, this web site provides the tools to become a better-informed health insurance consumer. It is also possible to obtain quotes from reputable, financially stable insurance companies.

The Medicine Program Volunteers who are dedicated to assisting the growing number of patients who cannot afford their prescription medication established this organization. Their function is to help patients who may qualify to enroll in one or more of the many patient assistance programs that provide prescription medication free-of-charge to individuals in need.

National Long-term Care Ombudsman Center A Long Term Care Ombudsman is an advocate for residents of nursing homes, board and care homes, and assisted living facilities. Ombudsmen provide information about how to find a facility and what to do to get quality care.

Office of Children's Ombudsman The office investigates complaints and concerns about children services by DHS or other child placement agencies.
Patient Advocate Foundation A national non-profit organization that serves as an active liaison between the patient and their insurer, employer, and/or creditors to resolve insurance, job discrimination and/or debt crisis matters relative to their diagnosis through case managers, doctors and attorneys. Prevent Blindness America A national non-profit organization with the goal of preventing blindness.
Caring from a Distance a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC that works to bring together the shared experiences of people who have personally struggled with the stress, anguish and frustration of long distance caregiving; help caregivers to determine their needs and tasks; connect them connect directly with local service providers, educate them where to go for help; and facilitate communication between caregiving families, friends and service providers.
