As I guess you've gathered by now, I'm Margot (the human in the image to your left). I'm a junior currently calling the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor home, studying computer science with a minor in writing. I love baby carrots, baby German shepherds, books, the band Dr. Dog, and the word "gumption," something I'd like to think I have.
"Good writing is indicative of good thinking," my Opa says. Both components of his advice are easier said than done, and for me, a continual work in progress. Writing grants me the opportunity to convert all the bits of noise and honesty and confusion floating around my brain into tangible representations, ones I hope you understand, and maybe even feel something about.
If you poke around at my writing, I hope you get a sense of who I am beyond that picture of me and my girl Kilo up there. I'm interested in the roundness of a person, and all the different dimensions that come with humanity: our capacity for empathy, our flaws, dreams, fears. The pieces I've chosen for this portfolio, whether personal or academic or a combination of the two, have all in some sense helped me learn a bit more about these dimensions.
This little corner of the internet is my space to share with you that process.
Thanks for taking your time to read my words, any of them.
