AUSTRALIA HOME

New South Wales - 6 May to 8 May 2000

Sydney, the largest city in Australia, was our second stop. We stayed at a hotel near Darling Harbour, which will be one of the main venues for the 2000 Summer Olympics. Most of us ate lunch the first day in Sydney's Chinatown, right around the corner from our hotel. That evening we went to the Rocks, the oldest part of the city and site of lots of restaurants, pubs, and clubs. Sunday I went to church at the beautiful St. Mary's Cathedral (right), which is being completed for the Olympics. We then sang a concert out in the suburbs before returning for a private tour of the Opera House (no pictures, the inside is copyright). Our last day featured a concert at a school across the harbour from downtown, which gave us a great photo opportunity. Then we hit Manly Beach and took a ferry back to the Opera House to catch our bus to the airport.
