Very sketchy beginning. Face getting there. Contrapposto body pose needs work in order to
do justice to this former gymnast who slaps her flat abs with satisfaction. (She's also a jelly wrestler - which fits in with Nancy Friday's idea that women need to be more directly competitive. (cf "Power of Beauty" p.144 ff)- Original image from Australia with permission.
I just noticed that Germaine Greer is also from Australia.

This bringing the hair around and stroking or braiding the column of hair reminds me of a dear friend who used to do this.
Its unfortunate that Freud would have described this sensuous enjoyment and the pony tail in terms of envy.In her book "Women on Top" (p.445) Nancy Friday writes: "In a famous paper in 1943 titled 'Women and Penis Envy,' Clara Thompson sets the record straight: 'The attitude called Penis Envy is similar to the attitude of any underprivileged group toward those in power.' Penis envy, from then on, has been understood to be symbolic, a rationalization for women's feelings of inadequacy in a partriarchal society...These new women, however, go a step further.
