NIGHT LIFE: CONCERTS

MEKONS
The enduring indie-rock combo kicks off its twenty-fifth-anniversary celebration on Sept. 19 at CBGB with a show that reaches back to the early days, when the singer-guitarist Jon Langford could be found on the drum kit and the set list more or less began and ended with "Never Been a Riot." (315 Bowery, at Bleecker St. 982-4052). The following evening the group plays an early acoustic set at the Galapagos, where the band's art work is on display. (70 N. 6th St., Williamsburg, 718-782-5188.) Later that night Langford and company travel to Maxwell's to perform songs from 1985 to 1991, the period marked by the addition of the silken-voiced Sally Timms and the band's embrace of what has since become known as alternative country. (1039 Washington St., Hoboken, 201-653-1703.) The group winds down the party on Sept. 21 at the Mercury Lounge with material from their more recent work, including their new album, "Oooh!" (217 E. Houston St. 260-4700.)
