AN UPDATE ON OUR YEAR

With the recent news that funding for the arts is likely to be reduced or eliminated, it is more important than ever that people who support the Guild's programs contribute.  We recently completed a successful run of PIRATES OF PENZANCE at the Village Theater in Canton, with audience support sufficient to allow us to continue to plan future shows there.  See our UPCOMING SHOWS page for information.

The 2006 HAROLD HAUGH LIGHT OPERA VOCAL COMPETITION was held in Howell, Michigan, and $3,500 in prizes were awarded.  In addition, we have recorded three more Victor Herbert shows, to add to our continuing program of recording the shows of the early 20th century.

Our recordings of the shows of Herbert and Kern have gained national attention, since they are often the only recordings available.  They have been ordered by museums and collectors, and are available to any fan of American operetta.  This coming season, we hope to produce a stage show, mount two more festivals, hold two recording sessions, and continue the vocal competition.  In order for these projects to be possible, we need to raise $5,000.

BECOME A DONOR

We Need Your Support in 2006

With State grant money mostly unavailable, your support will allow these great vocal projects to continue.  For last year’s concerts, singers had to learn over 1000 pages of music. This amount of dedication and talent deserve your sponsorship, so we hope you’ll want to keep our 32 year tradition alive.

In gratitude, we would like to send you a new CD, VICTOR HERBERT REDISCOVERED, featuring favorite numbers from COG recordings, for a donation of $35 or more.  If you became a donor of $35 or more, we will send you this disc.

In addition, you will receive our newsletter at the beginning of the year, listing details of the 2006 SHOWS and FESTIVALS.  Please go here for a PDF file of the form for your contribution...

and THANK YOU.
