As Miriam's 7th birthday approaches, I am remembering when she was born and how she was welcomed by her big brother. This clip was made the day after Miriam was born, right when we came home with her from the hospital. Hovering in the background are Markus, Grann, and Mary, all watching and mostly letting Simon be as he interacts in his own way with his little sister.Simon has a round green sticker on his shirt, which is the badge for a child visiting the hospital. Two years later it became Miriam's turn to get a badge to visit Simon during his many stays for cancer treatment. Early in the clip, Simon seems to say "beiss-ing". It seems to mean "biting", and it's a mixture of German and English. I love to watch his excitement and also the tenderness of his apology when he gets too rough.
