ParentsŐ Choice Gold Award-winner Billy Jonas comes to Salt Lake City for a public family concert on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. at Uintah Elementary School (1571 S. 1300 East).

Billy Jonas sings clever lyrics and plays along on guitar and assorted percussion instruments, carrying the audience with him into a rollicking sing-and-dance-along. His latest children's release, "What Kind of Cat Are You?", received the Parents' Choice Gold Award.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit interactive arts and science education at Uintah Elementary School and at the Salt Lake Arts Academy, the eventŐs co-sponsors.

Tickets are $4 per person or $15 per family. Advance tickets are available for in-person purchase (no phone orders) at the school offices at Uintah Elementary School (1571 E. 1300 South) and the Salt Lake Arts Academy (844 S. 200 East). Payment can be accepted by check only. Tickets will also be available at the door (cash or check accepted), but seating is limited.

During his Salt Lake residency, Billy Jonas will lead workshops for schoolchildren on Friday, January 19, 2007 at both Uintah Elementary School and the Salt Lake Arts Academy. We are gathering for a family concert at 10:00 am on Sunday, August 6, 2006. This date is the second anniversary of Simon's death, and it is our hope to share this time in community, remembering a terrific little boy and easing the sorrow of living on without him. We would be delighted to see you there!

Sister Maryam and José Bonilla combine their wonderful African and Latin American music with Maryam's captivating storytelling. Sister Maryam is an activist for interracial harmony and their music and stories reflect this social justice theme. The Arkansaw Bear at First Unitarian Church on February 12, 2006

The Religious Education program at First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City welcomes the Utah Conservatory of Performing Arts for two performances of The Arkansaw Bear at 9:00 and 11:00 am on Sunday, February 12, 2006. The play deals with issues of death and aging. The old Dancing Bear, the focal point of Arkansaw Bear, learns to accept his own mortality and allow his memory to carry on through the ones he loves. The play is part of First Unitarian's theme for religious education in February of "Growing Up and Growing Old."

In addition to the two performances of The Arkansaw Bear, the Utah Conservatory will present an acting workshop during the All Church Worship service at 10:20 a.m. These performances are sponsored by a grant from the Simon Craig Vodosek Memorial Fund.

Two of a Kind in Concert at Utah's Hogle Zoo on August 1, 2005 at 6:30 pm

Two of a Kind

Salt Lake City welcomes Two of a Kind for a concert at Utah's Hogle Zoo on Monday, August 1st at 6:30 pm. The Philadephia-based husband and wife duo--David and Jenny Heitler-Klevans--is on national tour for the summer of 2005. Their lively music about animals, families, and life is sure to delight all ages. They are joined in performance this summer by their talented twin sons, Ari and Jason. The concert is sponsored by a grant from the Simon Craig Vodosek Memorial Fund.

Gemini Residency in Salt Lake City, November 13-15, 2004

Salt Lake City welcomed Gemini for their debut performances in Utah! Providing a wonderful series of events to inaugurate the activities of the Simon Craig Vodosek Memorial Fund, Gemini was in residence in Salt Lake City November 13-15, 2004. First Unitarian served as the host church for this residency, with funding through a grant from the Simon Craig Vodosek Memorial Fund.
