Was King Arthur real?
About Stonehenge...

Medieval Costuming
That's the question of the day, isn't it? It's a matter of perspective. Most historians believe that there was someone alive in the late fourth or early fifth centuries, who was a great war leader, possibly a king, who spent quite a lot of time fighting the invading Saxons. The details are what no one can agree on, however-- was he really named Arthur? Did he really marry a woman named Guinevere? Did he live at Camelot? Was there a Round Table? There are interesting theories that support all of these possibilities, but very little evidence. You have to remember that this is a legend that is over 1500 years old, and there have been lots of embellishments since then. So, even if there was a King Arthur, he probably wasn't like anything you've seen in movies or read about in books.
You said (blank) about Stonehenge, but I read...
Whatever you may have heard or read about Stonehenge, I'm afraid that I am only willing to discuss issues based on the actual archaeological evidence, or on how Stonehenge figures into the Arthurian legend. Further, I do not really believe Merlin built Stonehenge, or that it originally stood in Ireland and was floated across the sea, or that aliens built it. The building of Stonehenge, in fact, is dated to thousands of years prior to the time of Arthur, and is quite clearly the work of human beings. I refer you all to a very helpful book, Frauds, Myths and Mysteries: Science and Pseudo-science in Archaeology by Kenneth L. Feder for further information on the building of Stonehenge.
Hi, I'm doing a school report on King Arthur and I need some info, could you please send me a few pages about him?
I'm sorry, but no. If you are doing a school report on King Arthur, I hope you can use my site as a resource, but please don't expect me to write the report for you. Likewise, I'll warn you right now, don't cheat by plagiarizing what I've written. Your teachers will catch you; the internet may make it easy for you to find information, but it's just as easy for your teachers to find out where you found that same information.
Could you send me some information on medieval costuming?
Sorry, that's far outside the scope of this page. You might try my friend Julie at the Garb Bag.
