This
years Greek Week raised over $115,000 for
charities, as well as over 800 pints of
blood for the American Red Cross, and
countless hours of community service.
In the
process Sigma Kappa, as part of Team 1
(Numbers Don't Lie!) won 3rd place in the
annual event. Highlights of the week
included Sing and Variety. This year our
sing placed 4th, performing a song
written and arranged by team members.
Variety also placed 4th, turning in an
exceptional performance by all 24
dancers. Sigma Kappa also won Greek
Olympics, placed 2nd in Lip Sync and
Synchronized Swimming, and had Mr. Greek
Week on their team!
Sarah
Greene, our Greek Week representative won
the award for Greek Week Represenatitive
of the year.
Alpha Mu Receives
Two Stars of Standards of Excellence
At the Sigma Kappa National
Convention in St. Louis, MO our chapter
received an award of two stars for Sigma
Kappa Standards of Excellence. In
addition, we were awarded the Ruth Rysdon
Miller Award for panhellenic service. We
also received awards recognizing
continued scholastic excellence and
rushing.
Alpha Mu's outstanding
involvement in panhellenic activities is
quite clear. In 1998, both Panhellenic
President Mary Gray and Vice-President
Scher Food were Sigma Kappas. In
addition, Sigma Kappa President Juliet
Chiarella served on the Social Reform
Task Force. Maija Cirulis was editor of
the Greek newspaper, and many other Sigma
Kappas worked to strenghten our system.
The 1998 convention was
attended by members Juliet Chiarella and
Veronica Ten Cate.
