Multi-Barreled Shotguns: The Quad-Barreled Shotgun
These beautiful pieces of creative mayhem are created by taking two double-barreled shotguns and laying their actions and barrels side by side or one on top of the other, then linking the firing mechanisms to one trigger and then you can blow away just about anything in your path. This weapon is great against hordes of enemies, but it is awkward to handle and slow to reload. There have been production tri and quad-barreled shotguns but these are usually rare customized guns crafted by master gunsmiths, not the workshed wonders that most jury-riggers come up with. Other
Variations on this theme include the popular Linked Pump-Action
Shotgun, where two or more pump-action shotguns are linked together by
metal struts. This variation ups the ammo capacity of the Quad-Barrel
and speeds up reloading as well, but can be harder to handle
accurately. Usually three shotguns are used for a more balanced weapon.
The stocks of the two outside shotguns are usually removed to lower the
weight and make it less cumbersome to handle. The pump actions and
triggers are all linked together and the gun is ready to go.
Standard
shotgun ammunition rules apply to these guns. They are designed to fire
of three to four barrels at once, they also tend to spread their shot
over a wider area then conventional shotguns. Use the Automatic
Fire-Suppressive Fire rules for these guns they hit with D4(2) bullets
with each shot, however they do so at a -3 penalty due to their weight
and awkwardness. Jury-rigging these bad boys together requires
a(Gunsmith/INT Average) or a (Difficult Mechanic/INT Difficult) roll.
