Welcome to Matt's Home Page!

Hi! My name is Matt, and I'm a graduate student in the History Department at the University of Michigan. That's me in the picture at right during my 1994 bike tour to Yosemite. This site offers items of intellectual interest or concern to me (and hopefully you, too) and displays some of my photography. Don't forget to sign the Guest Register below!

  • Photo Galleries.
  • European history. Includes some materials from my master's thesis on working-class hiking in 1920s Germany. This will eventually also present material from my current project on working-class landscape photography in the same period.

  • Who is Matt?

  • It's true!! He once said that the love of money is the root of all evil, but now Jesus has seen the error of his ways and wholeheartedly embraced American capitalism. He still offers salvation from eternal damnation, but now it's in the proper entrepreneurial spirit! Jesus hasn't quite gotten the hang of price gouging, false advertising or employee exploitation yet, but not to worry. Rush and Newt are advising him closely on the art of shafting others for personal gain. Major credit cards accepted.
