History:

U.S.S. Independence was a Sovereign-class explorer completed during the Dominion War and entered service assigned to Starfleet Strategic Operations Command as a command cruiser. Externally, she differs little from previous Sovereign-class vessels, aside from a darker haze grey color scheme.

Naming:

U.S.S. Independence is named after previous Starfleet and Federation member ships.

Model notes:

This model was built by Markus C. Nee and was completed in July 1998. It is in 1:1400 scale, and is approximately 19" long. The model is a stock AMT/Ertl U.S.S. Enterprise model kit. It was painted with Gunze Sangyo acrylic paints and lettered with the stock AMT decal sheet, and Chartpak dry transfers.
