"black art/white art" is a work about art and race. The work confronts the practice of separating and marginalizing art based on the race of the artist. The emphasis of this work is the communality of mankind.

The black and white chair is interfaced with a computer which is programmed to play digitally recorded words. When a seated participant leans to the black side a black woman's voice speaks and when the participant leans to the white side a white woman's voice speaks. The words change regularly but the word sets are the same for each side of the chair. The computer is located remotely, however the speaker is mounted in the chair.
