IMAP Course

IMAP is a seven week international course offered to first-year MBA students. The students enroll in this program after completing their first year core classes, allowing them to apply their knowledge and business skills to evaluate an international business issue facing the sponsor and provide potential solutions. These international engagements provide a rich and productive learning experience for both the students and the sponsoring organization.

Each team consists of three to eight MBA students who work on an international engagement for a client in conjunction with a University of Michigan Business School faculty advisor. Teams spend the full seven weeks exclusively dedicated to the engagement, including up to five weeks of international research. As part of their work, teams apply various research methods (surveys, focus groups, interviews, data collection and analysis) to diagnose the issues and develop recommendations. At the end of the engagement, the team provides an oral presentation to the sponsor, and submits a detailed written report.
