Tryouts


Wednesday, August 12th - Friday, August 14th
Pioneer Hollway Stadium


In order to participate in any aspect of the tryouts, each player must be fully registered no later than August 7th, 2009. Full registration includes:

  • A Physical completed after April 15th, 2009
  • Paid Athletic benefit (Insurance) $30 fee to the Athletic office.  Please note that this is different from the $100 Program fee payable upon successful tryout and placement on a team.
  • Completed AAPS Emergency Contact Card

No Exceptions Allowed!

 


What to Bring


  1. Cleats and shin guards
  2. Running shoes

  4. Appropriate Weather gear

Tryout Format


Players will showcase their skills in:

  1. Full and small sided games
  2. Multiple goal games
  3. Fitness Drills
  4. Technical Skills (Passing, Dribbling and Controlling) Exercises
  5. Defensive Cauldrons
  6. Small Sided Finishing Games
  7. Small Sided Possession Games
  8. Balance, Agility and Coordination Exercises

PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTS


What the Coaches look for


Pioneer soccer coaches will pay a great deal of attention to:

  1. 1v1 attacking and defending skills
  2. Passing, Receiving and dribbling skills
  3. Speed of play
  4. Decision making skills, awareness and game intelligence
  5. Individual contribution to the game
  6. Relentless competitive drive and will to win
  7. Unselfish team-first attitude
  8. Coachability: ability to take criticism and instruction
Positional Versatility: Players must be adaptable to playing various positions
