*There are so many books on regional and ethnic folk uses of plants for medicinal purposes that it is not practical to list more than a few which may be of special interest. The general references and the reference lists on chemical groups, especially the alkaloids, antibiotics and toxins also cover many plant medicines. Aspects relating to plant-animal interactions will be covered in subsequent reference lists.

**Of special interest.
