The Jack Pine by Tom Thompson
"The Jack Pine"  by Tom Thomson
National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa

This site is collection of writings, photographs, and creative pursuits that reflect my diverse interests in landscape architecture and planning.

"Tell me the landscape in which you live, and I will tell who you are."  -Ortega y Gassett

I am from a Canadian landscape much like that depicted in Tom Thomson's landscape painting, The Jack Pine.  Since leaving Canada, I have had the opportunity to live: in the tall-grass prairie in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, in downtown Chicago in a southside Italian neighborhood, in Phoenix, Arizona, on the edge of South Mountain Preserve, and now in Ann Arbor, Michigan in a traditional neighborhood rich in social capital. My work continues to explore the ways our landscapes shape us and the multitude of ways in which we now shape the natural landscape.
