Biostat 510 Final Project Winter, 2007

    • Please work independently on the project. If you have problems, contact me (kwelch@umich.edu) or send an email to the Biostat 510 instructors' group (bios_510inst@umich.edu). Class sessions will be held at the regular times on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of the semester. I will be lecturing during each class, and will also answer general questions regarding the project. These class sessions will primarily be lectures, and not help sessions for the project.

    The project is due by 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 18th in Tara Kazmaier and Laura Baker's office in the Biostat Department (Room 4210 SPH II), just across the hall from the elevator and the stairs.

    You can get a floppy disk or CD on which to place your final project data set, your SAS commands and your SPSS commands from Tara and Laura in room 4210 SPH II probably by Monday, April 9th or Tuesday, April 10th.

    Each student has a random sample of 500 observations drawn from the Tecumseh Community Health Study data. To get your data set, double-click on it, and then download it to your computer. You will need to write a data step to read the data into SAS, and a data list command to read the data into SPSS. Let me know if you have any problems getting your data, or cannot find your data set here.

    Note: be sure to check your data set after it is downloaded. You do not want it to be downloaded as an html file, but rather as a text file. If you get an html file when you download it, try downloading it with "Mozilla" rather than with Internet Explorer or Netscape.
