Kaori Emery, soprano, is a popular figure in shows and concerts around the New England area. Praised in various publications as a "graceful soprano" possessed of a "superb voice", Kaori has recently appeared as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance in Danvers and as Belinda in Dido and Aeneas in Cambridge. Past engagements have included Miss Silverpeal in The Impresario, Leila in Iolanthe, Elsie in The Yeomen of the Guard, and Gianetta in The Gondoliers. Kaori performs frequently with Mass Theatrica and The New England Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and she has appeared with Sudbury Savoyards, Theatre III, and The Comic Opera Guild. She has been a featured soloist in numerous concert series, including performances with New England Light Opera, Longwood Opera, Mass Theatrica, and Worcester Opera Works, and she has presented a number of well-received recitals of French and German Art Song in the Boston area. Additionally, Kaori has been featured as a soloist in Handel's Messiah, Judas Maccabaeus, and Ode for St. Cecilia's Day, Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate, Bach's Magnificat and St. John Passion, and Elliot Gyger's Hebrew, Latin, Greek. Kaori was the recipient of the Garrigues Scholarship for Vocal Studies at Swarthmore College and received her M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and she has sung with the International Baroque Institute at Longy School of Music and the Opera Studio in the School of Continuing Education at The New England Conservatory of Music.
