National Standards - Some Big
Principles
- Science is for All Students
- All students regardless of of age,
sex, cultural or ethnic backgrounds, disabilities, aspirations, or
interest and motivations.
- Learning science is an active
process
- Learning science is something students do, not
something that is done to them.
- School science should reflect the intellectual
and cultural traditions that characterize the practice of
contemporary science!
- Less is more - "The mile deep, inch wide
curriculum" instead of "The mile wide, inch deep
curriculum."
- Inquiry is the preferred mode of
instruction.
