 Exceeds Expectations

The assessment program:

  • provides numerous opportunities for students to express what they learned in response to questions/performances at the low, medium and high cognitive demand levels.
  • provides numerous opportunities for students to make multiple connections between ideas.
  • provides students with numerous opportunities to express their understanding in different formats/modes.
  • is at an appropriate level of difficulty for the students, yet challenges them to express what they know.
  • provides numerous and creative opportunities for students to apply what they know.
  • clearly and explicitly aligns with the stated lesson objectives.
  • provides students, teachers and other interested stake holders useful and specific feedback about the students' performance/understanding to help students develop

  • provides students and teachers some feedback about the students' performance, but some important areas are neglected.

 Does not meet expectations

The assessment program:

  • is either to difficult or too simple for the students.
  • does not provide opportunity for students to apply what they know.
  • does not align with the stated lesson objectives.
  • provides only teachers feedback about the students' performance.
