The Center for Highly Interactive Classroom, Curricula and Computing in Education ( hi-ce) is an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students exploring ways to better design science classrooms to support student learning. hice is dedicated to educational reform through inquiry-based curricula, learner-centered technologies,comprehensive professional development, and administrative and organizational models. hice provides a rich environment for exploring current and pressing issues in education.
The National Center for Teaching and Learning in Nanoscale Science (NCLT) and Engineering is the first national center for learning and teaching of nanoscale science and engineering education in the US. NCLT's researchfocuses on how to you support 7 through 16 in learning nanoscience ideas. The work at Michigan focuses primarily on 7 – 12. The NCLT provides a rich environment for exploring how students learn nanoscience concepts and principles. Funded through the NSF, NCLT is a partnership among the Northwestern University, the University of Michign, Purdue University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Illinois.
The Center for Curriculum Materials in Science (CCMS) is a collaboration of Project 2061 of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Michigan State University, Northwestern University, and the University of Michigan. It is focused on the analysis, design, and use of science curriculum materials and the development of new leaders in science education. The CCMS provides a rich environment for exploring how students learn nanoscience concepts and principles.Funded through the National Science Foundation’s Centers for Learning and Teaching program, CCMS is helping to enrich the national infrastructure for standards-based K-12 science, mathematics, and technology education.
