BBC MEDICAL EXPERT SCEPTICAL OF STATEMENTS BY ARMENIAN SCIENTISTS ABOUT AIDS CURE

YEREVAN, February 24 /Noyan Tapan/. "Usually, there are five or so signals on a vaccine or cure for AIDS every year coming from most various parts of the globe," said Eddie Laurance, a medical expert for the BBC Russian Service. Declaring that only an AIDS vaccine can bring deliverance to haminity, Mr. Laurance strongly doubted that there has been found a scientifically proven AIDS vaccine yet. HIV keeps constantly changing, he explained, that is why today there is practically no chance to find an effective cure for all of its variations. Earlier, Armenian specialists announced some data suggesting that what had been invented was a drug, not a vaccine, and that it had been designed to cure AIDS. *01/-2e c $e17 24/02/99
