YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan); The presentation of the UN AIDS Project took place in
Yerevan on August 5. The Project aims at providing assistance to the AIDS
Program of Armenia in order to form a National Strategic Plan in response to
the HIV/AIDS
The project mainly focuses on preventing HIV among the youth. Research will
also be conducted on drug users and the virus and also on how knowledge and
attitude, affects the youth. The total cost of the Project is $32,500.
Interviewers drew Project Expert Andrew Amanto-Gauci's attention to the fact
that the situation with those infected with the AIDS virus has drastically
changed because they are seeking treatment in Armenia. The medicine named
Armenicum was invented by Armenian scientists and is claimed to be an effective
remedy for the AIDS virus. The expert expressed interest in the effects of the
medication but had not visited patients that are undergoing treatment with
Armenicum, or been provided with any data. The World Health Organization will
consider AIDS to be beyond cure as long as official data is unavailable.
