Our laboratory is interested in the chromosome dynamics required for successful meiosis which is a specialized cell division process that produces haploid gametes (egg and sperm) from diploid germ cells. A failure in meiosis can lead to chromosome rearrangement and/or missegregation, a leading cause of birth defects and miscarriages.
