Born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and raised in East Lansing, Michigan, where both of his parents worked at Michigan State University, Josh was enveloped by the academic life at an early age. Though neither of his parents are professors, simply being around a college environment for so long instilled a great sense of home amongst academia within him. This is probably why he both fears the real world so deeply and wishes to be an eternal student (watch out, grad school).

Josh is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan, studying creative writing through the university's Residential College, and English through the College of Literature, Science, and Arts where he is hoping to complete an honors thesis senior year. He is also studying writing and training to be a peer tutor through the university's Sweetland Center for Writing, which is quickly becoming a second home to him. He one day hopes to be a professor of English and composotion. He would also like to own a corgi named Buster.

Academically, Josh's interests include narrative fiction, postmodern and feminist literary criticism and theory, medieval romances, the Arthurian legend, writing center theory and pedagogy, and southern literature. He would also like to learn Scottish Gaelic at some point (though he realizes the endeavor would likely have little usefulness).
