about Lighthouse Mastiffs
Lighthouse Mastiffs began in 1998, originally rescuing and raising our pet quality dogs and Mastiffs in need through MCOA Rescue.
It didn't take long for the Mastiff bug to bite, and eventually we wound up with 6 of the "Gentle Giants". Individual pictures of our dogs can be seen by clicking on the link above, "Our Mastiffs". You will even find a picture of my 17 year old daughters Pekinese/Cocker Spaniel Mix.
We are now going to throw our hat into the show ring with 2 of our Mastiffs. Pedigrees for both of them can be seen by clicking here. Pictures of them may be seen by clicking on the link above, "Our Mastiffs". We will be breeding Mastiffs so please watch our "Litter Announcement Page". Breeding is not something to take lightly. Breeding and raising Mastiff puppies is not the same asI remember my mutt dog having when I was a kid. Mastiffs require 24/7 care for the puppies to ensure that Mom doesn't sit on them, they maintain their body heat, and Mom doesn't become ill for the first 3-4 weeks of their lives; and this is only the beginning. PLEASE, PLEASE, research everything you can find before making this decision as the dogs rely on us to be responsible, and when were not, they are the ones to pay.
Mastiffs are not for everyone. Do you like to keep a spotless house? Does the house have to be quiet in order for you to sleep? Can you ensure that your dog understands that you are the "Alpha" personality of the pack without being physical? Mastiffs tend to be a very laid back, sensitive breed, but they like all dogs need to know their place in the home. While I cannot imagine my home without at least 1 Mastiff, this is not the case for everyone, hence so many dogs coming into rescue.
Please take a few minutes and review the "Frequently Asked Questions on the Mastiff Club Of America's Website" to see if the Mastiff is the breed that suits your family.
Some of the other things we like to do when we are not with the dogs: Working on our home, Amatuer photography, Raising our 2 Blue & Gold Macaws.

Rick, Summer 2002 Rick is my parter in life and my better half. We have been married for better than 10 years now and I cannot imagine my life without him in it. Unfortunately for Rick I gave him the Mastiff bug and the house hasn't been the same since.

Brittany, Summer 2002 A rare moment in our lives with Brittany, our 17 year old daughter. She's quiet and not bouncing off of the walls. Brittany is my target when I want to practice my photography if I cannot nail down the dogs, but she usually has final say in what pictures I post of her. Being the typical teenager that she is, that is not many of them. |

Kelly, Christmas 2002 I don't like to be in front of the camera, so this is probably the only picture I will ever post of me, unless of course it is a show win picture :-) As you can tell this was taken at Christmas. |
