November 05Click here for photos of the HMAS Canberra show
October 05

The band are doing a bunch of shows in Nov/Dec in Australia, starting with an incredible show for the Australian navy flagship, HMAS Canberra. The Commander sent a letter some months ago saying that the Canberra had used '1000 Miles ago' as its anthem (all Australian and British ships have an anthem that they play when they leave port and when they peel off at full speed from at sea refuelling) for a dozen years and this year the ship is being decommissioned and broken down. He wants to give it the best of send offs and asked if the band would fly out to the ship the day before it enters harbour for the last time and play the song live on the foredeck. Naturally everyone said yes! That happens on Nov. 7th.

Then the band are doing some shows in all States (only a couple of shows in each) plus 1 show in New Zealand on Nov. 26. They are also doing the Falls New Years Eve shows in Lorne Vic. And Tasmania plus a festival in West Australia on Jan 2.

Check the tour dates link for more info.

March 5, 2003 was the national launch of the Australian Rugby League campaign featuring a song written by the Hoodoo Gurus. They played the song written for the NRL at that launch in front of some 800 guests and the media. The whole campaign was the idea of Al Wilson, a huge fan and friend of the band, who also happens to be an excellent football player and now assistant coach of Parramatta. He worked closely with Dave on setting up the whole concept and new lyrics to 'What's My Scene'.
