Hallo, Studenten! why learn German?

The Winter German 191/RC Lang 191 course is geared to "true beginners". That's right--no students in there have ever studied German (or if they have, it doesn't show!). The course covers the normal one-year sequence in one semester, so it moves quickly, but it is a small group and a lot of fun, too. (It is true that a student commented in an evaluation that the instructors could "inspire a stone to speak!" but you should check it out for yourself.)

If you have questions about the course or the RC German Program, visit us or send us an email. We can put you in touch with former Grm. I students who made the decision to try a new language if you would like to talk to students about their experience.

In some years, Grm I students might take advantage of a Study Trip led by Hegman Shier in May or a trip to Munich or Berlin over Spring Break. Some parts of Grm. I may be specially geared to learning about German history and art. You may even participate in RC Deutsches Theater. (Check out pictures of performances by RC Deutsches Theater and learn about workshops by checking our FACEBOOK site.

*Please note: this trip to Germany is not a required part of the class!
