South Temple Complex Flyover Movie

This film opens with the viewer looking South over the mound of Karanis into the agricultural lands of the Fayum region. The extreme contrast between deasert and fertile land is apparent. The viewer then approaches the reconstruction of the South Temple surrounded by representative insulae in the local mode of architecture. The complete city contained over four hundred houses as well as another temple complex.

As the viewer spins over the site of the temple, the topography of the site can be seen. [Note that the local relief is less than one-third that of the site of Pisidian Antioch and that the site is unfortified.] Windows and doors in the adobe architecture are reinforced with wood (domestic) or stone (temple). The view flies into the temple complex through the East pylon and across the "Crocodile Pool" to the doorway of the Temple of the crocodile god.
