"Hands that can grasp, eyes
that can dilate, hair that can rise
if it must, these things are important
not because a
high-sounding interpretation can be put
upon them but
because they are
useful."
Marianne Moore, Poetry

In my professional life, I work in educational technology, specializing in teacher preparation and development. For detailed information about my education and experiences, you can look at my resume. If you're interested in seeing a sample of my writing, a paper on rapid prototyping that I co-wrote with Joe Hoffman is available here. My dissertation proposal abstract represents a more recent picture of my writing and research interests.
A lot of my work involves sessions with teacher education students; you can see an on-line curriculum support piece I'm in the process of developing for one of these sessions here. As of Winter '99, I am also a lecturer at Eastern Michigan University, where I teach EDMT 330, an undergraduate teacher education course on educational technology.
Currently, I'm a doctoral candidate at the University of ichigan. My office is in the Prechter Lab for Interactive Technology. The project I'm associated with is the Master's and Certification (MAC) program, where I work with the MAC B cohort. The group consists of teacher education students in language arts, science, social studies, math, and foreign languages.
If you would like specific information on projects I'm currently working on, e-mail me with the subject line "info-request". An automated response system will send you a report on what I'm up to.
Actually, I don't have much time for recreation. But when I do get a chance to relax, here's what I do.
I collect bookmarks to give out wherever I go. I've got over 500 so far, annotated to turn them into a hot list. To see them as a web page, click here.
To download them (if you have a Mac), click here.
Thanks to Michael P. Scholtis for this form. The sites listed are some of the more interesting or useful places I've visited. Most are related to education one way or another, and I've tried to pick places that are not on the usual list of "hot sites".
