Kirsten Filbrandt is studying with Professor Lyman and is a bassoon performance major. While in high school, she was a participant for three years in the Michigan Youth Arts Festival, Music for All National Honor Band, and the University of Michigan Youth Band and Orchestra. This past summer Kirsten attended the Chautauqua Music Festival in Chautauqua, New York and studied with Jeff Robinson. In 2008 she spent eight weeks at the Bay View Music Festival, and studied with Jill Marderness.
While at the University of Michigan Kirsten has been a member of the Concert Band, the University Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Symphony Band.

Kirsten's past teachers have included Richard Beene, and Dr. Nate Zeisler.
