On Sunday we had to figure out where to put all that sand. We continued leveling and grading the patio area, aiming for a slight slope away from the house (it had originally sloped toward the house, because of the big trees in the yard).

Chris worked her magic without disturbing the dirt too much. Then Jim tamped the area to ensure a good, compressed base. Then we were able to lay more patio liner, and move the sand. Emma watched our efforts with approval.

Moving the sand finally seemed to shrink the pile in the driveway. Jim shovelled like crazy while Chris used the stiff rake to make it relatively level.

We still had a bit of dirt to remove before we could spread the sand all the way to the end, so the last of the pile became another pile in the middle of the area. From there, it will be easy to move it into the end when we get it dug out.

Driveway sans pile--break time!
