The Flowering Shrubs

The daffodils we planted behind the curvey wall last year came up. Some of the ajuga survived, and now it is spreading nicely.

For the very first time, the little lilac bush that we planted the year we moved in bloomed. We have Gandhi to thank for that.

The rose bed really doesn't look this great--I faked the photo. The central pink one (Queen Elizabeth) is really in that bed. The yellow rose on the left (Peace) is actually in the bed on the other side of the back door. And the miniature rose is planted by the back corner of the house. They were, however all blooming at the same time.

The peony has more blooms than ever this year; the ants were working really hard to get them opened up on time. If you checked back every hour or so you could actually see them open up in slow motion!
