Place "ios3" folder into your Quake2 directory. ====================================================================================== * Play Information * Start Quake2 and bring down console Load game by typing "set game ios3" without the quotation marks Start game by typing "map base1" without the quotation marks: Standard single play mode - If you are killed in this mode, you respawn at the beginning of the map with the original inventory you had when you entered the map. Monsters and other items are reshuffled. Coop mode: You respawn at the player start position, map is not reloaded and any monsters killed, damage caused or items removed are preserved. ======================================================================================== * Game Information * The main feature of this mod is the randomizing of monster, weapon and ammo types. Replay a map and there will be different set of monsters and weapons. There are also variations on monsters, weapons and ammo. ==================================================================================== * Weapon handling * No ammunition is on the map. Weapons are fully loaded with a randomly assigned ammo type. Fire all the ammo and the weapon will be dropped. Hud shows ammo left in the gun on the left and the number of reserve weapons on the right. ==================================================================================== These are the weapon: blaster - can now obliterate corpses with a single shot, use it as a tool to remove dead bodies blocking lifts, etc. shotgun ammo: shot - (red shell) - light pellets with wide spread - standard Quake2 ammo buckshot - (brown shell) - fewer, heavier pellets with narrower spread slug - (green shell) - single heavy bullet with accurate aim napalm shot - (yellow shell) - pellets which causes monsters to catch on fire xslug - (blue shell) - explosive slug auto - (white shell) - rapid firing buckshot shotgun weapons: shotgun - (20 gauge shotgun with 20 round drum) shot, buckshot, slug, napalm, xslug, auto super shotgun - (12 gauge double barrel , fires both barrels from 12 round magazine) shot, buckshot, slug, napalm, xslug, slug/shot, slug/buckshot, xslug/napalm, auto savage - (10 gauge double barrel, fires single barrel) shot, buckshot, slug, napalm, xslug machinegun I - standard Quake2 weapon II - double rate of fire and spread III - triple rate of fire and spread Burst - 5 round burst, stabilized accurate fire chaingun - standard Quake2 AT chaingun - auto targeting chaingun. Put the laser sight on a monster and it will automatically fire or you can use the trigger hand grenades - standard Quake2 grenade launcher - (uses launcher grenades instead of hand grenades) grenades - standard Quake2 mortar - fires twice the speed and explodes on contact proximity mines - explodes when monsters are in range or after 30 seconds, you do not set off your own mines but if they explode you will take damage rocket launcher - RPG - standard Quake 2 HE rocket - double damage and radius blast Anti-Tank - double power and no radius damage Guided missile - use crosshairs to guide missile to target Homing missile - homes in on nearest enemy hyperblaster - heavy - double power, affected by gravity hyper - standard Quake2 ion - bounces off walls, you do not take damage from your own ions neutron - shoots through walls ice - freezes monsters pyro - caused monsters to catch on fire railgun - standard super - double power with reverse kick ========================================================================================= Armor protects monsters from some ammunition types. The armored monsters are the tanks, tank commanders, and Jorg. Shot and buckshot damage are greatly reduced on these monsters. The tank commanders and Jorg have improved armor which allows them to withstand fire and freezing damage. ========================================================================================= Strogg Monster modifications: guards - now includes railgun, slug, rocket, napalm shot, mortar, hyperblasters, grenade launcher,ion, neutron, heavy blaster and laser. gunner - machinegun / shotgun. pyro gunner - pyro blaster / napalm shotgun. field gunner - protected by a force field. You must destroy the force field before the gunner can be damaged. dark maiden - transparent sister of the iron maiden. Ghostly form and the ability to absorb energy from her surroundings make her harder to take down. brain - laser attack. slug enforcer - fires a single six barrel slug gun blast. parasite enforcer - parasite infected enforcer, has greatly increased strength but has lost the ability to fire a weapon using it only as a club. If you hurt him at close range the parasite inside him will attack you. acid berserker - acid for brains, not as strong as the regular berserkers but beware of his toxic head. tanks - shoulder mounted, right hand auto, left hand single shot. gunner - cannon, machinegun, shotgun. blaster - heavy blaster, hyperblaster, blaster. neutron - neutron speargun, neutron hyperblaster, neutron speargun. rocket - HE, rpg, rpg. artillery - motar, grenade launcher, mortar. pryo - heavy blaster, pryo hyperblaster, napalm shotgun./ always on fire, never suffers fire damage. tank commander - stronger version of regular tank. ========================================================================================= Mercenary cyborg mercenary - stronger version of guard. He fires all 10 player weapons. male mercenary - chaingun, AT chaingun, automatic shotgun, railgun, napalm slug, rocket, mortar, grenade launcher, bfg. female mercenary - heavy, hyper, ion, neutron ,laser and pyro hyperblasters. ==================================================================================== Allies XENO: Based on Alien model by AMC. Red warrior is a strong alien with heavy attack. Green worker is a strong alien with weak attack. Blue drone is a weak alien with weak attack. Black Queen tosses eggs when she is killed. DESTROYER: Rolling droid with invulnerability screen. Based on the Droideka model by Derrick Bowen. Blaster Destroyer has invulnerability screen when firing. Machinegun Destroyer has screen when rolling. EVANGELION: Multipurpose humanoid fighting machine. Model by Ionized Kit, sounds by Adam Lee. Hyper, ion, neutron and pyro versions. RATAMAHATTA: Fun loving tough guy. Model by Brian Collins. Shotgun, machinegun, parasite and neutron versions. SLITH: Skinny alien dude. Model by Ryan Butts and Jeramy Cooke. Armed with speargun shooting blaster, ion and napalm bolts, plus a parasite version. Model author readme texts are in the model/monsters directories. When you enter a new map your health is increased halfway to 100 in skill levels 1-3. In skill level 0 your health is restored to 100. When you respawn in coop mode you get one additional health point. Items: Bandoleer - gives you one extra box of ammo for your current selected weapon/ammo.
