» reading the tree leaves
I sometimes feel foolish obsessing over the color of leaves but I am making a note to myself now: If you happen to time it right, it is really, really pretty. Trees along the lake turn 1-2 weeks later than inland so while the trees in my photos look pretty green, the trees all along our drive to the UP and the trees along H-58 were as bright as the flourescent clothing I wore in the 90's.

Fresh rockfall.

Two kayakers being dwarfed.

Around the corner from Bridalveil Falls.

Miners Castle.

Forest.

Cliffs.

Lake Superior from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Fall color in the Cut River Valley.

Looking south from Sugarloaf Mountain.

The distant Pictured Rocks from Munising.

Grand Sable bluffs.

Closer.

You can see there was much more beach at the base of the bluffs in 2007.

Looking towards Mosquito Beach.

Same spot, summer 2007.

From the Cut River bridge.

A patch of color along the lake.

Trees growing right up the cliffs.

I really wanted to go paddleboarding in this area but the water was cold and I usually had a 1 year old attached to me.
