Just across the river from Hanover is Vermont, and that, no offense to New Hampshire, is where we decided to hike. Gile Mountain is a short hike to an old fire tower which gives you a panoramic view of the surrounding hills, distant mountains, and endless trees. Pictures don't really do the view justice.

Mount Ascutney.

Killington in the distance.

Spring leaves.

Bumps.

Kate and Steve on the trail.

Land waves.

A closer look at Killington.

The tower stairs.

Looking down on the little people.

A house near the trailhead, possibly home to one of those "hard-working Americans" you hear about during election years.

So many leaves.

Trail.

More contours.

A barn, a creek, a pond, and a wardrobe.

I-91.

Dartmouth and Hanover feel like small splotches of civilization in the middle of a huge forest. They've really done a good job of not chopping down the trees in New Hampshire, or at least they realized their mistake after they clearcut the trees the first time, and let them grow back.

The Darthmouth campus itself is a nice homogeneous collection of colonial style buildings. Exactly the kind of place you would expect an east coast college to be like.

Downtown Hanover, almost all of it.

Some buildings, including Megan's old dorm.
