montreal is a lively city and it has a unique historical area called "old montreal" which has old buildings and narrow brick streets making canada, for once, feel like a foreign country. in the center of town there is a "mountain" which sounds more spectacular than it looks but it's a nice break from the concrete. we were there for a hockey tournament and in our free time we explored the area via biking and inline skating. the city is kind of hilly in spots so cruising along on inline skates between parked cars and traffic was pretty exciting at times.

on one day we biked from old montreal across the river, north for awhile then back over the river and through the city. near the river there were swarms of bugs that we had to ride through and we end up covered in them (top right).
