Responsible for the overall management of a program devoted to
providing innovative technology solutions, support and educational programs to
the nearly 10,000 residents of University Housing. Major areas of
responsibility include:

Develop and manage operational and programmatic budget
of over $800,000
á
Oversee operations and renewal of 12 computing sites
and 12 Community Learning Centers
á
Oversee selection, development, supervision and
evaluation processes for over 50 staff
á
Provide leadership and vision to sponsor units, IT
Central Services and Housing IT
á
Define and develop technology education direction for
delivery to residents
á
Develop educational and marketing campaigns on technology-related
issues

Oversee established educational programs, such as the
Smart Computing session at new student orientation

Oversee development of entertaining, educational
content for ResCompTV, an in-hall cable television channel devoted to ResComp

Collaborate with network administrators and judicial
staff to develop policies, procedures, and educational direction related to the
violation of ResCompÕs networking Conditions of Use

Select accomplishments of ResComp under my leadership include:

In collaboration with Residence Education, developed
and implemented the design of the first fully realized Community Learning
Center in West Quad
á
Developed Inoculation Stations in order to get
residents safely connected to the campus network
á
Developed the Center for Vulnerability Control (CVC) in
order to provide Inoculation Station services year-round
á
Developed campus-wide Safe Computing campaign to
deliver educational messages about safe computing practices to students
á
Shifted staff resources from unproductive, low-impact
consulting services to well-utilized, value added services
á
Developed a comprehensive information and technology
assessment in order to better inform planning and decision making
á
Oversaw the modernization of the University Housing
cable television infrastructure, moving from analog cable television systems to
digital video production and delivery

As a member of the Technical Support Group (TSG), responsible for the design and implementation of Campus Computing SitesÕ (CCS) services and infrastructure in support of nearly 1500 workstations in over 30 locations. Major areas of responsibility included:
á Responsible for supervision of technical development staff and coordination of a wide range of technical tasks and projects
á
Coordinated technical initiatives with other units
within ITD and with external academic partnerships
á
Evaluated new and emerging technologies for potential
use in CCS
á Acted as liaison to faculty and other University units for deployment of course-related software
á Designed and delivered UMCE infrastructure and various networking training sessions to frontline staff
á Troubleshot systemic problems related to network and server infrastructure
á Installed and configured course-related software for MacOS and Windows NT workstations

á Responsible for the coordination of the re-design of CCSÕ comprehensive staff training program, including functional supervision of staff
á Designed, developed, implemented, and coordinated policies, procedures and supporting infrastructure to streamline CCSÕ Course Software deployment process, as well as computing classroom reservations

Team Lead for IT CommunicationÕs AppleTalk Support Team
January 1996-January 1997
As team leader of the AppleTalk Support Team and a member of
UMnet-Admin, responsible for supporting campus network administrators by
providing services such as on-site troubleshooting, online information
resources, software archives, backbone router maintenance and configuration,
expert-level referral support, and product testing and recommendation. Major
areas of responsibility included:
á Actively involved in budgeting process and strategic planning for backbone design and upgrades
á Portion of appointment was within the ITD Teach area for which I taught workshops on AppleShare Admin, AppleTalk Admin, and Mac Access to the Internet
á Responsible for setting the direction of the AppleTalk Support Team, as well as coordinating our overall efforts
á Lead the team's collaborative efforts with other units/groups such as MacSIG, MacOS, and LAN Services

As the full-time technical support staff for ResComp,
responsible for the maintenance, support, and inventory of all 17 ResComp
computing sites, the resident staff network (11 Residence Halls), and the
Resident Staff Loan Program (300+ computers). Major areas of responsibility
included:
á Responsible for designing and implementing educational programs and in-services for ResComp paraprofessional staff, students, and Housing Division administrative staff
á Participated in functional supervision of Resident Computer System Consultants and full supervision of ResComp Consultants, including evaluation and addressing disciplinary issues
á Provided administrative supervision, as well as training and support, for ResComp Area Technicians
á Evaluated and recommended software and hardware for acquisition within budgetary limitations
á Acted as liaison to ITD Network Systems, ITD User Services Technical Support Group, and Merit
á Designed a wide variety of hands-on workshops for students and was actively involved in marketing these classes
á
Wrote paper-based and multimedia documentation targeted
at students and ResComp paraprofessional staff
