RE: Use of the Internet

Most of us would agree that archery and bowhunting have had a positive impact on our lives. {Read this as…we have made a TON of money from you!}

As manufacturers, we work very hard to market the positive aspects of this great sport to hunters and non-hunters alike {Read this as….This is how companies like Mathew’s made the Inc 500 list of fastest-growing private companies in America, by selling equipment to you…}.

This is why we {read this as…PETE SHEPLEY, peeing’ in his pants} are very concerned with the current trend of bad press {read this as…inevitable truth telling} and slander {read this as I guess one archery manufacturer filing a law suite against another archery manufacturer can have this effect on the shooting public. } being found on Internet sites directed toward archery equipment manufacturers' {read this as… really, its only PSE that has been targeted…who else, other that PSE have we (the internet/archers community) heard any negative comments about or been discussing?} products and the people who use them {read this as… Even when they produce DEFECTIVE equipment (PSE, see story …) we want to continue to make money and they DON’T want the customers to hear about it!! This could cost them sales. Show me the money!}

It is our job as professional manufacturers to compete against one another in the marketplace. {Read this as … We will cut each other’s throat to make that buck, while making YOU, the consumer think "all is peachy". I’m sure PSE would become really depressed if a competing bow manufacturer or two went out of business}

Neither of our company's marketing campaigns carries a negative tone that may threaten an individual's desire to participate in archery. {Read this as… Oops I forgot about the law suite Mathew’s filed on PSE, and PSE file a rebuttal on its web site, once upon a time… Gee, they both USED THE WEB to start it, now they don’t want US to use it!}

We would like to ask those participants that actively use the Internet to keep their comments positive. {Read this as….VERY SCARY! They want control, NO FREEDOM of SPEECH. They want to ban this and ban that. Perhaps next, they won’t like women voting, or people protesting. Perhaps they will want to try to stop the distribution and sales of liquor…etc! Where does it end? Tell us o’great PSE…is there a GOD? What else do you want?}

The Internet has a great potential of reaching thousands of individuals and introducing them to our sport. {Read this as…I wonder if that is why PSE used it to "inform" and stem the tide of dealer bail-outs on the WEB? …. and oh MY GOD…the consumer could find out!! Mercy…an informed consumer is a DANGEROUS customer…a HARD SELL, there goes our profit$.}.

However, when negative comments appear, the opposite effect is created. While we appreciate the customer loyalty that has started this trend {read this as STROKE!, STROKE!!.. Gratuitous STROKE!}, we would like to remind you that our final goal is to increase the number of bowhunters and archers regardless of what brand they shoot {Read this as…In this way we guarantee our future revenue sources}. Some individuals may choose a Mathews; others will choose a PSE {personal comment…sad thought!), but we are all archers (personal comment… I wonder when the aging Pete and Mat were in the woods last? ) and we should be encouraging each other to pursue the sport we love {read this as .. and buy more and more and more from us}.

Several of you have had open discussions on the Internet regarding the ownership of patents. {comment..Don’t forget the open discussions of exploding PSE’s!} Much of the information has been false{personal comment... "MUCH" how much? Why did PSE send letters to dealers and/or post to the internet in the first place?…Hummm… Here is a snippet from the PSE "open letter" and I quote… "competitor Mathews, Inc. has issued a letter to its retailers regarding a lawsuit filed by Mathews in the Minnesota District Court against Precision Shooting Equipment, Inc." Doesn’t sound very friendly to me. Why, THEY are using the internet just the way they DON’T want us to use it!@#$%}. Patents are open to the public on-line at the U.S. Patent Office {But if you use them to manufacture a competing line…..You’ve crossed the line!}.

You can reference the patent numbers that have been listed on the product. (So what’s this got to do with anything?)

We thank all of you for your enthusiasm and encourage you to continue to meet and discuss more archery topics on-line in a fair and considerate manner.{read this as … FAIR and CONSIDERATE….OHHHHH, PAAALEEESE! As manufacturers…they want it their way…but for god’s sake…keep buying, you un-informed Internet people or "Archers"}

Sincerely,

(A couple of …. Well I won’t say it)

Question: You know, I wonder WHO has the most to loose here?. Mathew’s didn’t have "patent difficulties", but PSE sure did. Mathew’s sales are at an all time high, PSE’s aren’t. Just what motivated PSE to get on their hands and knees and bark at Mathew’s door? PSE must really be hurting.

"Know what your REALLY getting when you deal with PSE"
