Arrow Backstop This arrow backstop has been in place at hunt camp for several years. It consists of 4" x 4" end posts with wolmanized horizontal 2 x 4's. The top 2 x 4 "floats" and has two threaded rods running through the left and right sides of the center material, to the bottom 2 x 4. Nuts on the top 2 x 4 are used to compress the center material to the desired amount of pressure, increasing the restraint put onto the arrows as they enter the backstop. The center material consists of a 4' x 8' sheet of black fiber house siding material. Other materials, such as foam could be used...EXPERIMENT! Another version (plans soon), removes the "through bolts" on each side and relocates them to the upper portion only (like the olden day's printing press). You can put your favorite paper target or foam target in front of the the backstop, including center shot Budweiser can. |
