The Framework:

Working with wolmanized materials lasts the longest ...but is more expensive and a bit heavier.

Photo:1 The framework consists of 2"x2" soft pine or spruce (the cheap stuff), feel free to rip a 2x4 in half.  Its often cheaper than buying 2x2's precut (wolmanized is best).

Cover this with 1/2" plywood (wolmanized lasts the longest, but costs more).

Additional cross-members may be applied at your leisure.  Make sure the 2 runs from front to back, extend (out the back) to "bite" into the tree.

The vertical "seat post" can be hinged (for a folder) or glued/screwed in a permanent vertical position with triangle wedgies added for strength.

Photo:2  The bottom frame work extends out from left to right an inch or two.  This allows for a camo skirt that surrounds the stand and adds concealment. (Camo skirt plans elsewhere)

Chain about 5 ft. long seems to work for the avg. tree.

Use aircraft cable that has a plastic coating for longer life...

both yours and the treestands!
