Shooting
Bench Plans:
This shooting bench is a modification of an original plan by Horst &
McCann, Inc at www.horstguns.com
I have modified its dimensions, made it a single sided bench and did NOT attach
the bench to the actual table frame. I like a seperate bench. In
theory, a seperate bench will not have any influence on the table.

Remember, if you build this upside down as I did, the plan
will be reversed when you turn it over. The following pictures are for a
LEFT HAND bench. I put it all together and flipped it up, much to my
suprise, it was not a right handed shooter bench. I took it apart and
fixed it. KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN BUILDING. Cut two 2x6x57.5 inch pieces from a
single 10 foot board. This will help reduce waste. The front piece is 32.5 inches
wide. The side rail is
26.5 inches long. The end rail is
20.5 inches long. Feel free to modify these sizes to suite
yourself. Now its time to assemble the frame. Use lots of "Liquid Nail" at the
joints and 3 inch screws.
Cut the legs and set them into
place. The legs are 33.5 inches. Use lots of Liquid Nail.
Here is the basic bench frame.
Remember its a left hander when flipped over. Put in a small piece to strenghten the leg
joint. And on the end. Glue and screw.
Glue and screw a couple of cross
braces at each end. Now its time to flip it over.... at this point I
had alread corrected the right/left hand shooting problem.
Your final task is to cover it with
deck boards. I bought 2 eight footers....2 boards shy....should have
bought a ten footer. All done
except for a couple more deck boards.
I had a couple pieces of 4x4
scraps left over, so I put them together for a gun rest. Drill a counter sink hole about half way
down. Glue and screw the rest. Add carpet to protect your rifle. Rest Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic3
