Trail cameras are a great hunting tool, but the batteries just don’t seem to last very long. Add-in cold weather and a flash going off all the time and the batteries die quickly. Why not build this handy little circuit in 5 minutes with about $2.00 worth of parts and use a large capacity 12 volt battery. Put it into an insulated camo box set at the base of a tree and run two wires up and into the camera.

You can throw this together in a few minutes, and see how it works. Feel free to fancy it up a bit this is just a quick prototype.
Here is circuit and the prototype.
I purchased the parts from Jameco. Here is a picture of the parts from the order, just two capacitors and a voltage regulator.
(note: I wrote 0.01uf on the bag, it is actually 0.1uf)
12 Volts Input voltage
12 volts to 6 volts Output voltage
