    Put your turkey feathers to work.

Get some large alligator clips from Radio Shack etc., and some straight pins with large balls on the ends.

Strip some of the feathers off the quill, find the balance point, put the pin through.   Next, bend the metal tab on the alligator clip (if it comes with one), and then solder it to make it more perminent.  We have been using these for years....and they really work.  Tail feathers work best (kill a jake so you won't be bummed wrecking a trophy tail), since there is less curve in the quill.
