As I have recently advocated strongly for pre-specified research design, here are some predictions generated by my highly developed theoretical model of the Potter-verse (Harry Potter Universe) ordered from most to least certain:

  1. Death (for those with intact souls) is final: Dumbledore is dead (although his portrait may prove helpful.)
  2. Despite the support of more than 55 percent of respondents (when I last checked) at the Scholastic's Harry Potter website Harry and Hermione will NOT be a couple at the end of book 7. Ms Rowling has dropped "anvil sized" hints regarding Ron and Hermione.
  3. Tom Riddle (a.k.a. The Dark Lord, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Voldemort) will be defeated.
  4. Again, despite the views of those at scholastic.com, Snape is (in the main) "good." Although undeniably a "git", Snape will demonstrate his ultimate allegiance to the forces of good in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
  5. A (very) "risky" prediction: Snape was deeply enamored of Lilly Potter (nee Evans) and this forms the basis for of his most negative feelings about Harry. (Why else would the scene depicted in "Snape's Worst Memory" be worst ?)
  6. The wedding of Fleur de la Cour and Bill Weasley will be marred by a great tragedy (possibly a death).
  7. Despite Harry's general support for elf rights, his relationship with Kreacher will be the source of an unhappy moral compromise.

My current version of "Snape's story" is that in addition to having been in love with Lily Potter (nee Evans) is that he perfomed an "Unbreakable Vow" with Dumbledore before his "Unbreakable Vow" with Narcissa Malfoy. The vow with Dumbledore was presumably to defend Harry Potter and/or work against Tom Riddle (I, like Dumbeldore, prefer to refer to him as Tom rather than as Lord Voldermort.)

This, of course, makes his decision to take the "Unbreakable Vow" with Narcissa a rather courageous act, since doing so at that time meant possibly condemning himself to death (I don't think every last thing had been worked out between him and Dumbledore). Add that to the fact that it is widely suspected that the DADA (Defense Against the Dark Arts) position was "jinxed" by Riddle/Voldermort Snape has put himself in quite a fix at the beginning of The Half-Blood Prince.
