Course Goals

 

 

Students will learn the style of undergraduate academic writing while at the same time examining snap shots of U.S. history through the lens of belief in conspiracy theories. They will acquire a vocabulary for critiquing each other's writing and their own. Students will learn critical thinking skills, including how to evaluate evidence and question assumptions. They will apply these skills to contemporary genre such as movies as well as primary documents from other areas. Students also will learn to be skeptical about most conspiracy theory claims yet vigilant for threats to American liberty.
